Google Chrome - First Impressions

Tuesday, September 2nd, 2008

I’ve just downloaded and installed Google Chrome and my first impression is a sort of “wow” ? How come not a full “wow” ? It’s just because Google has always given us great products and a lot of people (including me) were expecting a beautiful and interesting software product from Google.

Cons : no rss feader, each time i open a new tab a new Chrome process appears in task manager

Pros : seems to load  a bit faster than Firefox, it has imported all my ff bookmarks, installed in my default language, slick design (really puts accent on the web page itself - it doesn’t have  a streched title bar)

I can not say that controls on each tab are a better thing and i’ve just bearely scratched the top of the iceberg if you understand what i mean. More feeds about the browser in the next days.

It seems Google has put a download link on their homepage. It’s a sure thing they’re prepared for a boom of downloads.

Google Chrome coming tommorow

Tuesday, September 2nd, 2008

Less than 24 hours until the launch of the Google’s web browser. Some of the features of Google’s browser named “Chrome” will be separate controls on each browsing tab with a separate special url box called “Omnibox” that won’t show just the url history of the url you’re just typing, a special home page much more improved security and a lot of other geeky features that might not interest you but will make your web browsing experience much better. A top of all, Google Chrome will be open source so that means that other developers can bring their ideas to the program or implement some of the Google browser features in other browsers. For much more detailed information about the launch of the beta version and features go and check Google’s official blog and a nice set of interesting comics about the web browser offered by Google.
